Hardcore modes aren’t there for “better” or “more competitive” players, it’s just a different set of rules. I stopped playing Destiny after 2 months and found the PvP to be terrible personally, but it also was nothing like CoD. Skill based matchmaking sounds great but not that great long term. The conspiracy where Treyarch ‘added’ something entirely new to the CoD game, something significant, making people with certain stats SpM, KD or some mix only get lobbies with other people with high stats. I pretty much believe exactly what Treyarch told us. That at the far far reaches of the distribution skill curve, a person at either end got a bit of the other tail cut off in their search, if playing solo.

Mar 14, · Same here, I really love the survival and team play concept. But for a noob like me, skill based matchmaking would indeed make the game a lot better.
Helping gamers rage less and enjoy their games more. I have already argued in a post and video that the split identity of Destiny is bad for the future of the franchise, and have also written and done a video about how PVP lacks enough engagement to warrant lots of development attention. Sadly, in the current state of PVP shooters, connecting people based primarily on connection is considered divergent.
Shooters like Call of Duty, and even recently Battlefield, have been simplifying their games to make them more accessible to players with less skill. So the acquisition and adaptation process was painful and pretty frustrating. But I do think the younger generation is expecting to move the joystick, press a few buttons, and watch the whole map blow up in a blaze of their own glory.
